European Companies Moving Into Latin America’s Solar Market

Enel Green Power S.p.A. has begun construction on a 220 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in state of Tlaxcala, Mexico. Enel Green Power is a multinational renewable energy company, headquartered in Rome, Italy. Enel Green Power is a subsidiary of Enel Power, a multinational electricity and natural gas utility, headquartered in Rome, Italy.

Enel Green Power is investing approximately US $165 million in the Magdalena II facility, which is located approximately 25 miles east of Mexico City. The company is planning to expand renewable energy operations in Latin America. Enel Green Power will soon begin construction on a 475 MW solar park in Brazil, which is estimated to cost US $390 million.
