United Nations & Google Collaborate On Our Environment

The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and Google LLC have announced plans to collaborate in an effort to monitor the impact of human activity on the environment. The UNEP is an agency of the United Nations that assists developing countries in the implementation of environmentally sound policies and practices. Google is a multinational technology company, headquartered in Mountain View, California.

Google will establish the platform for open-source data and analysis of the UNEP’s environmental database. Google’s analysis can then be used by governments and environmental agencies to track the progress of countries environmental development.

Developed and developing countries have historically underestimated air quality, greenhouse gas emissions and water quality. The UNEP is attempting to develop an accurate environmental database that can assist governments in identifying major environmental issues to address.
