Orascom Construction Limited, ENGIE and Toyota Tsusho Corporation have announced plans to develop a 500 MW wind farm in the Arab Republic of Egypt. Orascom Construction is an engineering and construction company, headquartered in Cairo, Egypt. ENGIE is a multinational electric utility, headquartered in La Défense Courbevoie, France. Toyota Tsusho is a multinational corporation, headquartered in Nagoya, Japan that is a subsidiary of the Toyota Group.
The three companies are currently building a 250 MW wind farm in Ras Ghareb, Egypt. The construction of this wind farm is ahead of schedule and will begin operation by June 2019. The recently announced 500 MW wind farm is also located in Ras Ghareb, approximately 100 miles southeast of Cairo. Construction on this wind farm is scheduled to begin by July 2019.
