Sacramento International Airport Goes Solar

In 2017, 10.9 million passengers traveled through the Sacramento International Airport in California. The airport has recently installed a 7.9 MW solar PV system, which uses two Sunny Central 2200-US inverters integrated with a Medium-Voltage Block, and three Sunny Central 800 CP-US inverters. The solar PV system will offset approximately 30% of the airport’s electricity use, which will save the airport up to $850,000 per year.

This is another example of a regional authority or government seeing the value of renewable energy. I hope legislators in my state of Oregon also see the value of renewable energy and finally move away from fossil fuel.
